Frances Farmer, Alabama’s weird Constitution, and Teenage Fanclub
If you’ve somehow already binge-listened to all our new content, first of all: THANK YOU. YOU ARE VERY NICE.
Secondly, to keep you from being bored before more new stuff drops, allow me to pull some podcasts from our “veterans” off the shelf:
- (The Printing of) The Legend of Frances Farmer. If you, too, bought Nirvana’s In Utero cassette, you may remember “Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle,” Kurt Cobain’s ode to the allegedly lobotomized actress. Karina Longworth gets to the truth.
- Bad Constitution. Alabama’s constitution has 800 amendments and 300,000 words. What in the name of Bear Bryant is going on there? Life of the Law explains.
- Special Live Performance from Teenage Fanclub. The Dinner Party Download was invited to Merge Records’ 25th Anniversary party. As part of that, they were able to see indie-rock legends Teenage Fanclub perform a couple tunes. (The writer of this blog is a giant TFC fan, and will post all appearances of the band in our network. He may also do this when they do not appear. He does not apologize for this.)
Thanks for listening!
