S4TW: Barbra Streisand, Benny the dog, and Too Many Cooks

November 7, 2014

Welcome to another edition of Something for the Weekend.  Please enjoy these things from within and without the Infinite Guest network that can help you, the person who is reading this, maximize your weekend’s pleasureableness (this is not nearly a word).

COOL INFINITE GUEST THING: You Must Remember This continues a fantastic run of shows with the story of Barbra Streisand’s 1976 remake of A Star Is Born. Karina Longworth’s Barbra impersonation is on point. If you need more 1976 than this, I am here for you. The David Bowie picture is worth your click.

WOLVES: Life of the Law, which I’ll be talking about more in the newsletter (which you can subscribe to on our homepage), covers the relationship between wolves, people, and the Endangered Species Act in another fascinating installment.  Continuing the wolf theme, Open Mike Eagle has part one of his interview with Anticon Records co-founder Yoni Wolf on Secret Skin.  Mike also shares a horrifying story about his earring.

BENNYAwesome Etiquette wades through a thicket of thorny issues this week: Nosy bosses, disciplining other people’s kids, dietary preferences at dinner parties, etc. More importantly, though, Lizzie sent a picture of her dog, Benny, who is adorable and is the dog pictured above.

COOL NON-INFINITE GUEST THING: The 11+ minutes of Too Many Cooks is the best example of taking a concept, pushing it to its logical limit, and then blowing right past that limit into pure madness.  I love it.
