S4TW: Lawyers, llamas, serial killers, and TBTL

February 27, 2015

(Welcome to Something for the Weekend.  What follows is a list of some of our shows, some shows that aren’t our shows, and some links from around the Internet that we think you’ll enjoy.  Give them a listen/glance.  Thank you.)

NEW SHOW ALERT: TBTL has joined the Infinite Guest network, and we couldn’t be happier!  If you’re not familiar, go on over to their show page and acquaint yourself.  You do not have to listen to all 1,800 episodes to get the gist.

EAGLE COMES ALIVE: Open Mike Eagle hosted his first ever live Secret Skin show in January.  Part one features guests Aby Wolf and Psalm One.

STAR WARS, EPISODE VIII: The making of Marilyn Monroe is the focus of You Must Remember This.  The Sordidness Tracker finds the existence of Yank Magazine troubling.

CAN I LLIVE: The saga of two Arizona llamas who just wanted to be free captured the imagination of Twitter and an easily distracted American public on Thursday afternoon, before the disputed color of this dress overtook the national conversation.  This was the best tweet, I think:

MY DAD IS A SERIAL KILLER: Not a Lifetime movie, but the story of Kerri Rawson, daughter of Dennis Rader, a.k.a. The BTK Killer.  It will stick with you.

HARRIS WITTELS REMEMBERED: If it’s possible for a podcast titled “NOT Farts and Procreation 4” to be touching, this episode of Comedy Bang Bang is.  Scott Aukerman’s emotional intro to this podcast, which Wittels recorded with Aukerman, Adam Scott and Chelsea Peretti shortly before his death, is particularly compelling.

CALL NOW: Life of the Law gives  you the story of the kind of lawyers who make Saul Goodman seem measured.  If you don’t believe me, believe Lowell “The Hammer” Stanley:

THE ALMOND CAKE RECIPE: Big Appetites talks desserts, and strongly urges you to give this almond cake recipe a go this weekend.

A PROBLEM TOO BIG FOR ANY ONE ADVICE COLUMNIST: Savage Love’s Dan Savage is not a sports fan, but he is an advice columnist, so John Moe asks him to take a shot at fixing the New York Knicks on Home Dunk.

1982 WAS A DIFFERENT TIME: The All Sports Band was a real thing that happened.

STOP LYING: On Awesome Etiquette, the matter of Brian Williams and Daniel’s decision to just stop lying.

ONE LLAST THING: This is still the best llama-related item on the Internet.
