Classic Yogi Berra Quotes

May 19, 2015

Baseball great Yogi Berra turned 90 years old this week. Besides having an outstanding and underrated career as a player, Berra has always been known for his famous sayings, which are both hilarious and heart-warming.

“If the people don’t want to come out to the ballpark, nobody’s going to stop them.”

“Baseball is 90% mental. The other half is physical.”

“It’s déjà vu all over again.”

“You can’t play baseball on a football with a basketball all over a horse what’s going on.”

“Who stole my bike? I loved that bike.”

“Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.”

“I am a baseball player for the New York Yankees. My name is Yogi Berra.”

“Seriously, I need to get that bike back. That’s a great bike.”

“Please don’t drop me off in the forest and leave me there. I’m not Yogi Bear, I’m Yogi Berra. Besides, Yogi Bear is a cartoon.”

“Hey, real bears, don’t hurt me. I just want to find my way back to the trail. And then Yankee Stadium!”

“You bears haven’t seen my bike, have you?”

“I have inside information on the JFK asssassina—(clunk) (passes out).”

“Who clunked me on the head? Was it a bear? Or the guy who stole my bike?”

“I just realized I loaned my bike to Phil Rizzuto. I forgot. Sorry for the confusion.”

“It was me who released all those bears into Yankee Stadium. I am their leader now.”

“No one can stop me and my army of bears.”

“Anyone have a bike I could borrow until Phil Rizzuto comes back?”

Friends of Wits Doing Stuff

Jason Isbell (@JasonIsbell) and Craig Finn (@steadycraig) are doing a small tour together. That is a lot of really good songs, right there.

Kristen Schaal (@kristenschaaled), with some help from Paul Scheer (@paulscheer) and others, completely remade the video for Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” for Mikal Cronin’s new single, “Turn Around.”

Reggie Watts (@reggiewatts) and Marc Maron (@marcmaron) were both guests on fellow Infinite Guest program The Frame this week. You can find those interviews here and here.

Speaking of Maron, he interviewed Jon Wurster (@jonwurster) and Tom Scharpling on his own podcast this week, as those two were promoting their massive “Best Show” box set.

Did you know there is a Wits newsletter?  Much like the Infinite Guest newsletter, it comes out every week, with original content from Wits host John Moe, updates on new shows, what guests and friends of the program are up to, videos from the Wits YouTube channel, the whole shebang.
