S4TW: Calvin Duncan, Bad Redditors, and David Letterman

May 21, 2015

(Welcome to Something for the Weekend.  What follows is a list of some of our shows, some shows that aren’t our shows, and some links from around the Internet that we think you’ll enjoy.  Give them a listen/glance.  Thank you.)

STUPID MOTIONS: Live Law, from the good people behind Life of the Law, is Infinite Guest’s newest podcast.  As you might have guessed from the title, it’s a live show from attorneys (and teachers, and legislators, and kids, and anyone) with a story to tell about the law.  It premieres with Calvin Duncan’s story about spending 28 years in jail for a crime he didn’t commit.  That’s going to be hard to top.

SHERLOCK FROM HOME: Meanwhile, LOTL focuses on crowdsourced justice: The good, the bad, and the Redditors.

A VISIT TO BRANSON: I did not know that Branson had a Titanic.  Thanks to writer Thomas Swick, now I do.

THIS WEEK ON WITS: Very funny comedian Cameron Esposito is the guest on a new Wits Extra.

KEY AND BHIMANKeegan-Michael Key and Bhi Bhiman met at a Wits taping.  Now they’re making videos together.  You’re welcome, the world.

THIS WEEK ON TBTL: Series finalestrigger warnings, Letterman.

THE STORY OF LARRY WALTERS: This is what happens when you strap 44 weather balloons to your $110 Sears lawn chair.

GOTH RAP IS A THING: On Secret Skin, Open Mike checks in with BLKHRTS’ Yonnas Abraham on said genre and also Satan.  Plus, details on your opportunity to provide lyrics and vocals to an OME song.

THIS WEEK ON THE FRAME: David Letterman retired.  Perhaps you’ve heard?

MORE DAVE: I grew up on Letterman and delighted in all the retrospectives, thinkpieces, and testimonials that ran this week.  Some of the best I came across:

And if you won’t take their word for it, watch Larry “Bud” Melman at the New York Port Authority:
